Digital Hub Logistics wins EU-Champions Challenge

Today we can celebrate: The Digital Hub Logistics took first place in the first Champions Challenge of the European Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) and is therefore the best hub in Europe. The hub took the lead in both categories – “SME-Orientation” and “Service Portfolio”. The competition is an initiative of DIHNET.EU, the coordinating body of the more than 500 EU-approved Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) in Europe. The prize has been awarded at the DIHNET.EU Stakeholder Forum in Madrid. The finalists included the Dortmund Digital Hub Logistics, the Spanish hubs Data Cycle Hub and IAM 3D HUB, the SuperIoT AI DIH from Finland and the Transilvania Digital Innovation Hub from Romania.

“As a pioneer of digital innovation, the Digital Hub Logistics will now support young hubs throughout Europe in their development,” says Hub Manager Thorsten HĂĽlsmann, who received the award in Madrid together with Hub Managers Maria Beck, ECM, and Christian Prasse, Fraunhofer IML. In particular, it is about the definition and design of formats with which the digitization of small and medium-sized enterprises in the respective countries or regions will be promoted.

The Digital Hub Logistics itself has been successfully offering such formats for three years now: Among others, they are used by the start-ins of the warehouse technology experts META, the machine and plant manufacturer BEUMER Group and the provider of products for water supply, BEULCO. Combined with outstanding research projects and initiatives, test halls, research and application centres and many other partners in the ecosystem, the Digital Hub Logistics represents a highly exciting environment for companies. The foundations for the ecosystem were laid by three competence centers: the Fraunhofer Institutes for Material Flow and Logistics IML and for Software and Systems Engineering ISST and the TU Dortmund. EfficiencyCluster Management GmbH (ECM) acts as operator and coordinator.
